Algoa Steel Rally - ARC R50k Challenge 2014

The first round of the 50k Challenge will be the Algoa Steel 50k Challenge which will start at Hunters Retreat Hotel with Documentation and scrutineering from 08h00. The first rally car will travel along Cape Road open stage and enter the first rally stage at 10h00 Parsons Green.

Spectators who wish to watch this tar stage are encouraged to park in the open spectator parking area on the right side of the entrance into Parsons Green in front of Algoa Steel. It will be worth arriving before the start to watch the 0 car which will be a Monster Jeep clearing the stage as the 0 vehicle.

Volkswagen Motor Sport will enter two National S 2000 and two S 1600 rally cars to spice up the rally and use this event as a warm up for the National Rally Championship. Henk Lategan, who set the winning pace on many National stages last year, will be the driver of one of those cars, and will be worth watching as a preview to the Volkswagen National rally to visit Port Elizabeth in July.

The rally cars will have the first service after running Parsons Green stage twice, on the premises of Algoa Steel where spectators are welcome to watch the service crews in action. The rally will move on to stages at PE Oval Circuit and Jagvlakte where the Uitenhage supporters can watch the rally cars from the Vlagtes lake area. Service parks will also take place at PE Oval circuit and the monster truck will be parked for viewing.

The Rally will consist of about 80km of special stages with stages repeated which will assist competitors and service crews to set and fine tune for the year ahead. More details, including spectator areas, time table and special stages, will be posted on the website. The rally will officially start at 10h00 and expected to finish at Hunters Retreat Hotel at 16h00.
