Ladies looking forward to the 2012 Fountains Mall Rally


Simone Neethling started her racing career with oval circuit racing at an early age, her rally debut started in 2011 post matric and has adapted to driving a rally car at speed on all kinds of gravel and tar surfaces, this type of motor sport is not for the feint hearted.

Rally competition is a partnership between driver and navigator that requires precision driving relying on instructions from the navigator who follows the road book directions based on odometer mileage readings and accurate time management to avoid penalties, this is where Anza Muller’s responsibility becomes an important component to guide the driver through untested territory.

SimoneAnzaThe ladies drive a Volkswagen Citi Golf in the regional RA5 championship class that consists of 6 events during the year organised by the Algoa Rally Association consisting of special stages starting and ending at various locations in the Eastern Cape including the annual Volkswagen National Rally run over two days on roads in the Longmore forests, tar stages including Uitenhage and finishing at Kings Beach Port Elizabeth where 10-15 thousand spectators line the stage.

Rally cars competing in the regional and club championship consist of Volkswagen Golf’s, Datsun SSS, Nissen, Fords, Vw Polo’s competing in the open S20 class and Regional Junior rally RA5 championship class of Citi Golfs built by Volkswagen Motor sport as a development class to encourage future champions.

Rallying in the Eastern Cape is organised by Algoa Rally Association under the auspices of Motor Sport South Africa and alternate during the year using venues at PE Oval circuit grounds, Motherwell, Scribante Race Circuit, Jeffreys Bay, Fountains Mall, Loerie farm roads and tar stages.
