We're kicking things up a notch at Baywest Mall! Join us on Saturday, 17 June for the Baywest Mall Rally, presented by The Algoa Rally Club.

Baywest is the venue for the following at Entrance 4a:

1. Documentation and Pre-rally Scrutineering: 08h30 - 10h00am

FD-A3-Poster

2. Ceremonial Start: 10h30am

3. Mid-rally Service: 13h00 - 14h00pm

4. Rally Finish: 16h00 - 17h00pm

The rally cars will make their way to Uitenhage for the start of the “Vlakte Pavilion” stage after the Baywest Mall ceremonial start. This is a 20km combination of old and new roads promising to be a real test for man and machine alike. There is a good combination of fast sweeping sections and tight technical bits to give the crews a propper workout.

A service check and straight into the “RTOEP” stage. This is the new PEOTR stage as run during the first round of the championship, but in the opposite direction. There is some good vantage points for spectating from the PEOTR grounds so don’t miss this one!

The “Santa-Bish” stage completes the first loop of stages and takes the cars back to Baywest Mall for a mid-day service break.

All stages are repeated in the afternoon loop with the finish and a champagne spray at Baywest Mall entrance 4a at around 16h30.

Organisers expect about 20 entries. Among them will be the newcomer mother and daughter team of Madelaine and Maryke Brits in the Isilo Security Volkswagen Golf. Clyde Challenor from Durban will make his debut in the ARC championship driving the locally build, GMP Motorsport CCCK Volkswagen Polo. He promised the locals a run for their money in the pre-race build-up with Grayham Bishop in the “hotseat” reading the pacenotes.

The heat will be on at the front where championship leaders Bryan and Andrew Heine will have to fend off a strong challenge from close local championship rivals like the Viljoen’s in their Polo, Iddo Steyn and Mark Irvine in the Escort and the two NKRacing Algoa Toyota Yaris Rally cars.

The field is really strong in 2017 with competitors from as far as Natal and the Freestate joining the action at Baywest Mall and any one of the entrants being able to win the rally on the day.
