The Algoa Steel Rally Club 50k Challenge was held on Saturday 14 March 2015, the first round of seven events staged around the Eastern Cape. Winners of the first round were Neels Vosloo and Kevin Futcher driver navigator driving a newly acquired Toyota Yaris 1500, this is the first time that a Toyota has won overall since inception of the 50k Challenge.

Neels Vosloo Rally YarisThey were followed by Johan and Juan Viljoen Volkswagen Golf 2000, third place Jan Vosloo and Ria Jansen Toyota Yaris 1300 making the first three a family affair of drivers and navigators.

The benchmark has been set by the first round pace setters and with one of the seven events to be dropped with six to count, will make the championship more exciting and seconds separating the front runners are expected. The RA5 development class that produced 50k winners in the last two years cannot be ruled out as championship contenders.

With competitors upgrading vehicles and fine tuning, the Algoa Rally Club championship is producing some competitive drivers and navigators that will be fired up to prove themselves against the National competitors taking part in the Volkswagen National Rally 17-18 July 2015.

The second round of the ARC 50k Challenge will take place on 2 May 2015 starting at the newly revamped Ocean Basket Gaming & Grill in Uitenhage, starting with documentation at 8h00, stages will include the Daniel Pienaar school grounds.
