Two GC Diesel sponsored VW Polo's perform on home event

Round 3 of the Algoa Rally Club's R50KChallenge have been won by Keith McGregor and Duncan Bezuidenhout in a GC Diesel sponsored VW Polo. The grandson of former rally driver Keith Coleman, and his navigator Duncan, were consistent throughout the rally and one of only three club crews to complete both days without benefitting from the much debated "super rally" rule on the timecards.

They were followed by "Rookie of the day" Jono Stephan and Reece Thompson in a Golf with Ross Bartle and Rick Janse van Rensburg slotting into 3rd under super rally rules in their new VW Polo after mechanical problems ended a very clean and competitive run on day 2.

In the national S2000 challenge class another GC Diesel sponsored VW Polo grabbed second place to keep the Eastern Cape flag flying high. Morne Janse v Rensburg and Rikus Fourie also finished in 8th place overall in the 2013 VW National Rally won by national championship leaders Mark Cronje and Robin Houghton in a Ford Fiesta.

The only Algoa Rally Club local crew to compete in the Super 1600 National class was Andrew Heine and Stephen Jones in their Heinesport Toyota Auris. They did very well to finish 20th overall and 6th in class despite some problems.

Congratulations to all the competitors, service crews, organiser's, marshals, media and the fans on an exceptional rally. It was awesome to see the streets in Jeffreys Bay jam-packed on a cold windy night, Kings Beach alive with anticipation as cars jumped the bridge in an awesome super special and of course the ever popular spectator points in the forest packed with fans eating dust! See you all again next year......
