The organisers are expecting about 15 rally cars to start from the service park across the road from the Spekboom Lapa, along the Hankey road from Ferry Hotel.

The first stage at 9h15 will be the notorious Van Stadens Pass which has become a tradition for the annual Loerie rally, starting on the Thornhill side, down and up the pass, to end at Woodridge turn off and then repeated in the same direction.

The rally cars will return to Spekboom for gravel tyre change and then move into position for the Gamtoos River Stage past Rooi Draai which will end at Hankey. This stage is rated as one of the best in the country with fast sweeps, hills and valleys and is not for the feint hearted. The rally is welcomed by the local community who will watch the rally from their homesteads.

Other stages in close proximity to the service park are Melon and Pierre Moolman farm which will consist of fast sweeps and tight technical stages weaving between the vegetable fields, and farm roads with challenging road surface changes from grass to loose sand.

The front runners of the S3 class 2 Litre Toyota's, Volkswagens and Nissans will lead the pack, starting at 2 minute dust intervals, names synonymous in rallying and from the area, are Neels and Jan Vosloo, championship and class winners driving Toyota Yaris's and Daniel Pienaar mentor and navigator Martin Kleingeld, supporting a development team from Daniel Pienaar School, Rick Janse Van Rensburg from Gamtoos River mouth and Anza Muller from Humansdorp.

Leading contenders in with a chance are Bryan Heine Datsun SSS, Nico Smith, Ross Bartle and Johan Viljoen driving Volkswagens. Class winners in the RA5 development class may come from Ashley Bezuidenhout, Stephno Pieterse or the lady team of Melissa Heyman and Ruan Gerber all driving Volkswagen RA5 Citi Golfs, with Gavin Murphy also in the mix.

Algoa Rally Club is blessed with a contingent of female navigators who have nerves of steel and well versed in the language, abbreviations and commands that only the drivers understand on how to read the roads at high speed; Sisters Juane Viljoen and Ria Jansen, Anza Muller, Roxanne Bartle, Sherilee and Lario Pieterse will be in command.

Recommended spectator area is the Spekboom Lapa where the rally head quarters will be based and the restaurant will be open to the public while the rally is in progress including the evening prize giving.
