The ladies are ready for the Loerie Rally


The 4th round of the Algoa Rally Club's R50kChallenge will take place on the 31 August 2013. The rally will start at the Moffett on Main lifestyle Centre at 08:30 with scrutineering and documentation where the rally cars will form up in front of the main entrance.

The pre-rally fun will start at the Kart Kings indoor karting circuit located in the basement parking of the Moffett on Main shopping centre. Navigators will take part in a fun go-kart time trial as a warm up to the rally.

Rally competitors will be competing for a very lucrative 2013 championship prize worth R 50 000! The championship is building up to a climax with only 3 rounds left and the leading points contenders all still in with a realistic chance of winning.

The Algoa Rally Club hopes for a strong contingent of female competitors as part of the line up for the rally. DRIVERS: Kim Heine (Polo 2lt) (Picture) ; Melissa Heyman (Golf 1.4lt); Megan Heine (Golf 1.4lt) as well as the NAVIGATORS: Anza Muller (Golf 1.4lt); Kim Putter (Golf 1.4lt); Juane Viljoen (Golf 2.0lt); Ria Viljoen (Nissan Sentra 2.0lt) and Roxanne Bartle (Polo 2.0lt) should all be ready to race on Saturday!

Spectators are welcome to view the cars at the Moffett on Main lifestyle Centre and meet the competitors who will be present for administration, scrutineering and go-karting before the first rally car leaves at 10hh00. Cars will then proceed to PEOTR circuit for the first gravel stage and then move on to Van Stadens Pass, Loerie, Melon, Hankey and Klein Rivier ending in Loerie at JC' s Pub at around 16h30. The stages consist of tar and gravel with service parks starting at PEOTR where service crews will change tyres and prepare the vehicles for the next stage.

Current points leaders Jacques Louw / Gabriel Groener followed by Rikus Schmidt / Stephno Pieterse and Keith Mc Gregor / Duncan Bezuidenhout will be hard pressed from the contingent of 20 rally cars consisting of VW Polo's, Golfs, Datsuns and Nissans expected to take part.

The R50KChallenge is an Algoa Rally Club initiative with local sponsors and one of the biggest motorsport prizes in South Africa which attracts competitors from other provinces who participate in the hope of winning the prize awarded at the end of the year.
