Fountains Mall Rally

Fountains Mall Jefferys Bay will be the place to be this Saturday the 29 October 2016 to see Algoa Rally Club cars competing in stages around the Mall. The first car will enter the stage at 10h00, when the rally officially starts. The stage is a real challenge for drivers and navigators to negotiate the tight corners without making mistakes or time penalties.

The second and third stages will be held on the farming lands of Jubilee and Boplaas and spectators will be able to view the rally cars in full flight on gravel. The stage starts at the farm gate entrance along the Humansdorp Road and exit the farms at the Swartriver Road ending at Koraal Street. This stage will be repeated and return to the mall for a service check.

From Fountains Mall parking, the rally will move to a stage at Zuurbron, starting after the quarry along the Kabeljous river road and exit on the R 330 and then cross to the Zuurbron farms road to start another fast stage and return to the mall for a repeat stage which will start from the back of the mall to end at the front parking stage.

Zuurbron will be repeated and will include a stage from Melon tower to Spekboom Lapa and return to the mall around 16h30 for the final stage. The winners will be rewarded with valuable points towards the VW Polo end of the year prize and for the day, watches from Gabriel Jewellers. Wayne Smith of drifting fame will be entertaining the spectators at the mall between stages. Wayne’s car control and driving skills are not to be missed.

Local competitors from the area will be Neels and Jan Vosloo driving Toyota Yaris, assisted by navigators Kevin Futcher and Piet Rossouw respectively, in with a good chance on home ground. The challenge for the Volkswagen Polo Prize with one more round to go will be between Johan and Juane Viljoen, Rikus Schmidt and Sherilee Pieterse driving Volkswagen Polos. Rally competitors from Cape Town, Ismaeel Davids driving a Toyota Corolla, with Yusuf Ganiel, may spoil the party for local 50k competitors. Bloemfontein aces of Jacque Du Toit and navigator Ronald Rens, driving a Nissan Sentra, may also take points home for the championship.

Spectators are welcome to follow the rally and share in the 8 birthday celebration at Fountains Mall.
